Founded in 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma as the National Tank Company, NATCO has always been at the forefront of oil industry production processing. Starting with a single location and selling only simple storage tanks, NATCO evolved as the industry evolved.
By the 1940s, NATCO had pioneered many of the original separating technologies for converting unprocessed hydrocarbon fluids into salable oil and gas, and its operations encompassed the entire domestic U.S. oil industry.
As the oil industry became international and began to sell natural gas, NATCO expanded both the geographic and technical scopes of its operations. NATCO developed many of the products used in oil and gas production today. The Company developed the first high capacity oil and gas separator, the first emulsion treating system, Dual Polarity™ electrostatic oil treaters, DOX™ and OSX™ water filtration systems, high pressure indirect heaters, and Performax® oil and water treating systems. Today, the NATCO wave-motion compensating separator is the industry standard for offshore applications and the Company remains on the cutting edge of electrostatic oil treating technology.
Now named NATCO Group Inc., the company is a leading provider of wellhead process equipment, systems and services used in the production of oil and gas. NATCO has designed, manufactured and marketed production equipment and services for more than 75 years. NATCO production equipment is used onshore and offshore in most major oil and gas producing regions of the world. NATCO continues to originate and patent many of the processes that produce salable oil and gas, and remains the unqualified technological leader in the field.
NATCO remains committed to continued leadership and growth for the future. NATCO's focus on technologies, which deliver greater value to the customer, led to the acquisition of TEST, Inc. in 1997, the acquisition of Cynara in 1998 and the acquisitions of Porta-Test International, Modular Production Equipment, Inc. (MPE), Engineering Specialties, Inc. (ESI) in 2000 and Axsia Group in 2001.
